Thanks for your response.  I may not be heading to Taipei until September.  Do you think that this is too late to arrive and find a job?  If I will be looking to start during the Fall semester should I come in August, just to be safe? Or does anyone think that arriving in Sept. will be ok?  I guess I am in the preliminary stages of planning and just want to know when and who to start contacting schools/agencies?

I have seen a huge amount of information on forumosa.com and still need to read a lot of it…any quick advice from anyone about schools to look into?

Hi,

Firstly I would recommend Taiwan as a place to teach English. It is a nice environment here, and still a good standard of living. It is possible to find work any time throughout the year, but obviously easier before the start of new semesters. The new year starts in September, but most schools have summer classes for a couple of months before that. A good time to look for work is between the end of June and September as a lot of schools like to try out teachers over the summer before signing them for a year. It is best to be in Taiwan before you start applying for positions so that you can go to interviews and check out the school before you decide on anything. There are several sites to find work. http://www.taiwandeal.com seem to have regular jobs posted, so just keep checking out the latest jobs available. Arriving in March might still be ok as you seem to have a lot of experience teaching.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

:)

Hi,  I'm looking into moving to Taipei to teach (English or other) and want to know when everyone thinks is the best time to begin the job search/inquiries??  I am planning on moving around Sept. 2010.  Is Feb/March too early to start a job search?  What is the best way to find a job? I hear asianconsultants.com are helpful and reliable.  I am a licensed teacher and have 10 years special ed. experience.  My spouse and I are looking to do something different.  Any help or advise would be appreciated.
